I completed my BSW in 1976 and my MSW in 1995, both from Memorial University. I have worked with children, youth and families since entering the social work profession, including: ten years with the Children’s Rehabilitation Centre; five years owning and operating a Preschool Centre; and twenty-five years in various positions with the Janeway Family Centre. I retired from Eastern Health in 2016 and was delighted to receive an invitation to join the Key Assets team. I also have twenty-five years of experience in providing counselling services to all age groups through private practice.
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to attend a long list of trainings and workshops, often focused on trauma, play therapy, grief and recovery. I have also had the pleasure of presenting at many conferences provincially, nationally and internationally.
I value commitment to our community and have been involved in volunteer positions for more than forty years, including: facilitating youth groups and children’s programs; serving on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters and Rabbittown Community Centre; participating on church committees; organising community activities; and serving on the editorial board of the Canadian Social Work Journal. I love new challenges and am particularly enjoying Key Assets initiatives in Labrador.
